The Internet (inter + net) is a worldwide computer network that transmits a variety of data and media across interconnected devices such as laptops, tablets, and smart phones. It works by using a set of standards called “Protocol” as communication language. One of these standards is TCP/IP [1], the primary language.
The media used to transmit internet signal can be classified into two types [2]: Guided Media (aka “Wired Cable”) and Unguided Media (aka “Wireless Media).
-Wired Media: Internet signal is transmitted directly and limited in a narrow range using physical links that are visible and has ability to carry high speed signals. It is safe and limited to certain distance. The media are made of either metal or fiber, for example: twisted pair cable, coaxial cable, and fiber optic cable.
-Wireless Media: Internet signal is sent without physical media but requires electromagnetic wave to carry the signal.
